OVSІENKO Svetlana, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Department of the Department of Food Technologies and Microbiology, Vinnytsia National Agrarian University (21008, Vinnytsia, 3, Soniachna Str.; e-mail: sovsi@i.ua)
The article contains data on the productivity of sows fed additionally to the diet by feed supplement from the plant mass of milk thistle, saponite flour and forage in the second half of pregnancy and during the lactation period.
The feed additive is produced in granular form contains 94% of milk thistle hay meal, 3% of saponite flour and 3% of molasses; pregnant and lactate sows were fed by 80 grams per head per day. It was found that feed additive stimulates their appetite and prevents excessive weight loss in a critical period when sows should feed newborn pigs. In the experimental group the number of piglets was 10.7 piglets per sow; it is by 9.2% more than in the control group. Piglets born by sows of the experimental group had a higher live birth weight; it was by 4.8% higher than in the control group. The live weight of the nest at birth in the experimental group was higher by 14.4% than in the control group.
Milk production of experimental sows was 31.6% verse 31% of the control group, it was 334.6 kg of milk. The live weight of one 28-day piglet was bigger by 0.5%, it was 8 kg, and 95.3% of piglets were saved.
Sows physiological restoration has significant differences to the next reproductive cycle under equal conditions of retention and feeding of experimental sows.
After weaning the piglets, in the experimental group the sows had a higher live weight, and their subsequent insemination was 12 days earlier than in the control group.
