Annotation

The peculiarities of high productive dairy herd formation in the conditions of Ltd. “Pysarivka” of the Yampil district are regarded. The herd of cattle is formed by the Ukrainian black-speckled dairy breed and its crosses with the black-speckled Holstein breed. As a result of specialists’ purposeful work, the farm was given the status of a pedigree farm for breeding heifers of the Ukrainian black-speckled dairy breed. The milk yield of cows is 8,104 kg per year. The State Animal Identification System was introduced at the farm. The heifers up to 6 months drink 240 kg of milk; young animals are grown by concentrated type with the minimum use of raw milk. The heifers’ insemination occurs with a live weight of over 360 kg. The method of insemination is recto-cervical.

As a result of the research, Holstein breed bulls are used to increase the livestock hereditary potential in the herd of breeding the Ukrainian black-speckled dairy breed. These bulls are estimated by the combined characteristics of their daughters; they improve the level of milk productivity and reproductive ability. In order to remount  the herd that increases the production of milk, the growth of heifers of all ages is provided only from high-yield cows and heifers.

While the selection of cows is carried out we are taking into account the type of body structure, the uniformity and duration of lactation, the suitability for machine milking, the amount of milk, milk fat and protein for lactation, as well as the resistance to disease and the reproductive ability. The cattle (from calf to cow) is fed both in winter and in summer according to scientifically grounded rations. There should be at least 70 q feed units per cow per year.

The systems of forages production and use are economically justified; it is confirmed by the sown area of forage crops, the agricultural lands structure, the provision of cattle by the necessary forages and the reduction of expenses for the transportation of feed to the place of feeding and storage.

Keywords: Ukrainian black-speckled dairy breed, highly productive herd, breeding, appraisal, milk productivity, heifers
