Georgia is the country where long since are engaged in livestock, therefore huge importance is given the further progress of this field. The republic is rich with landraces, aboriginal and cultural breeds of agricultural animals and birds. Unfortunately, for last decades their number was sharply reduced, and some of them are on the verge of extinction. Presently works are conducted after a direction of conservation of local breeds of agricultural animals and birds, as well as useful insects, among which large cattle, horses, sheeps, goats, pigs, hens, geese, turkey, honey bee, silkworm. The quantity of biofarms are increases annually In the country, also consequently increases bioproducts. However, along with this, questions concerning genetically modified organisms are also being studied, which is very important.
