Annotation
The article provides information on productive and pedigree qualities, selection and genetic
parameters of high-yielding animals, as well as the influence of their use on increasing the genetic
potential of the milk productivity of the descendants of Ukrainian black-and-white milk breed under
the conditions of the economy of the central region of Ukraine.
An important condition for the intensive development of the livestock industry and the
economic efficiency of milk production is the high level of productivity cattle herds. Cows with
higher milk yields make up the largest part of such herds; their breeding is a practical task of
farms. They play a major role in the formation of highly productive herds; they are the ancestors of
the families and mothers of the bugs of the ancestors of the factory lines. Highly productive cows
are the foundation of breeding work, its most important part.
The breeding of highly productive cows improves the genealogical structure of the breed,
accumulates valuable genetic potential in subsequent generations, increases the chances of
obtaining even more high-yielding and valuable pedigree animals.
Improvement of modern breeds of cattle, in accordance with the requirements of production,
is possible through intra-breeding selection using the best genetic resources.
Thus, it was found that the experimental cows come from high-yielding mothers and are
themselves mothers of high-yielding daughters. From birth, they dominate their peers for a live
weight by 4.10 kg, have high growth energy in different age periods and are characterized by
optimal parameters of the body structure.
The live weight of high-yielding cows is 590-630 kg., milk yield is 9600 kg per lactation. The
correlation between live weight and milk yield in these animals is positive, the correlation
coefficient between the diet and the fat content in milk of cows is positive.
When comparing the milk yields of high-yielding animals with the their mothers and
daughters ones, it is evident that these indicators are increasing from generation to generation, it
means that the herd of cows progresses from generation to generation, and improves the economic
useful characteristics of animals.
Keywords: cows, breeding selection, selection, effect of breeding, breeding core, production, high-yield cows, milk, genetic improvement
