COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF MEAT PRODUCTIVITY OF BULL-CALVES AND HEIFERS OF DIFFERENT WEIGHT CATEGORIES
Lisova N.M., master’s degree student
Vinnytsia National Agrarian University
One of the ways of rational use of the animals delaying in growth in the beef production is searching the implementation of such animals at the young age, where a large amount of feed for their growth has not been spent yet.
Actually culling the young cattle delaying in growth allows us to develop new elements of industrial technologies of beef production on the farms of small capacity.
It was conducted the research of evaluation of meat productivity of bull-calves and heifers, which had a live weight of 500.9 kg (bull-calves) and 454 kg (heifers) in comparison with an average live weight, respectively 402.5 kg (bull-calves) and 372 kg (heifers). It has been found that it is more rational to buy the bull-calves with a live weight over 500 kg and the heifers with that one of more than 454 kg.
According to the results of the slaughter the output of the steam carcass mass in the bull-calves of the control group was 202.43 kg, while in those of the experimental one – 267.72 kg or by 32.25 kg more.
It is established that the highest slaughter output of 57.84% has been obtained from the bull-calves of the experimental group. It is by 3.2% more than from those of the control group, while it is by 1.96% more in heifers.
It is proved that the energy value of the slaughter mass in the high weight bull-calves is by 31% more than in the medium weight ones, while it is by 26.2% more in heifers.
The evaluation of the economic efficiency of buying the young cattle of medium and high weight conditions showed that the high weight bull-calves and heifers predominated those of the medium weight in gains by 165.5% and 152.4%, respectively. Their level of profitability was by 7% and 4.33% more, compared to the medium weight ones.
